Cuprass® (CuZnAl) is a family of manganese bronzes that are resistant to seawater corrosion and have vibration isolating properties. In order to enhance the mechanical properties of brass, besides copper and zinc, additional elements such as nickel, manganese, iron, tin, or silicon can be added. These additional elements in the special brass alloy do not exceed 5% of the total amount. Cuprass® (CuZnAl) material is a high-strength special alloy. Due to the alloying elements it contains, it has high hardness and tensile strength and shows excellent corrosion resistance.
At Sağlam Metal, three types of high-strength brass are produced, and custom production can be made based on specific compositions.
Cuprass® (CuZnAl) series materials are used in low and high-speed bearings, worm gears, gear manufacturing, sliding and bush bearings, reinforcement pins in heavy vehicles with high strokes, ship parts, and propellers due to their high corrosion resistance. They can also be used in place of brass and bronze for holding spot welding electrodes. Below are the usage areas of products in the Cuprass® (CuZnAl) series:
Cuprass® 1: It has moderate sliding properties and is used as a pressing nut in rolling mills and screw presses, as well as in ship propellers. (Hardness 120 HB)
Cuprass® 2: It is a high-strength and hard material. It is used in stationary load-bearing construction parts, machine parts, etc. (Hardness 160 HB)
Cuprass® 3: It is a high-strength and hard brass. It is used in bearings operating at high and low speeds, and in the production of infinite screws and gears. (Hardness 190 HB)
