1.2738 (40CrMnNiMo8-6-4) steel is a plastic mold steel with the same hardness throughout its entire surface, has a wide range of use in plastic molds due to its mirror-polished feature and machinability. The difference from 1.2311 and 1.2312 is the addition of nickel. Due to this addition, the ability to shine is better and a mirror-polished surface can be obtained.
1.2738 HH is the variant produced in the higher hardness range (HH-High Hard) of 1.2738. For this reason, it is mainly preferred for molding more abrasive plastics.
